My name is Mrs. Abrams and I am the new 1st grade teacher here at New City School. I am very happy to be here. I am from Dayton. I have a 6th grade son and a 4th grade daughter. I consider 1st grade to be an extremely important year of school. We are learning strategies to help us read and add. Students are really beginning to understand the importance of studying and life skills. These include counting money, telling time, measuring and of course reading. Thanks to everyone for being so helpful and welcoming. We are on our way to having a great year.

From the Technology Lab
Welcome from the computer lab. This year we are starting out well focusing on basic computer and subject skills for younger students and keyboarding and other skills for the older students.
For the younger students we are working on basic computer skill such as using a mouse and keyboard, opening and using programs, and getting on the internet. Many students are practicing math and language arts skills. Older students add to that by learning how to research online, write papers, design presentations and use other communication tools.
As the year progresses we will be doing some practice and other testing as well as learning about free online tools available though Google and others. Mr Alway
