Who We Are:
New City School is a mission partner of the New City Project, affiliated with First United Methodist Church. While sharing mission with the a Christian church, New City School is non-sectarian. We do not teach Christianity, in any form, nor any other religion. We practice and teach basic values of love and respect for all people.
We do not discriminate in hiring or in student selection.
Our Focus is on attention deficit and learning disabled students. New City Scool found its roots many years ago as the private reading clinic Alpha School. In our third year as a state supported charter community school, are a school built around a clinic instead of a clinic added to a school. 30% of our students are on Individualized Education Plans.
Our hallmarks are small classes, tutoring, specialized reading and math curriculum, Spirit Quest physical and emotional development program. We are currently limiting enrollment to about 132.
As a public charter community school we can not charge tuition, nor could most of our students afford it. 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. We depend on donations and grants from the community to help pay for the specialized programing that would be out of reach for most students in our community. Nobody here makes a lot of money doing what we are doing. We are a 501(c)3 Non-profit organization and your gifts are tax deductable. We welcome your support.
